Around 150 million years ago, enormous dinosaurs roamed the Earth. Today, their story lives on in fossils — and at the Sauriermuseum Aathal, families can get remarkably close to these prehistoric giants. Long-necked dinosaurs, Stegosaurus and other Jurassic species fill the museum, including skeletons discovered during the museum’s own excavations in Wyoming. Original fossils, a pterosaur, petrified wood, meteorites and amber reveal more about life millions of years ago, while changing special exhibitions add new perspectives.

Outside in the “DinoGiardino,” young paleontologists can grab a brush and uncover a skeleton hidden in the sand, climb the play tower, whiz down the slide or take a spin on the carousel. There are also picnic and barbecue areas for a break in between. Back inside, the upstairs café serves snacks and drinks, while workshops give children the chance to work with fossils, create something of their own and learn more about prehistoric life. Groups can even spend the night among the dinosaurs or explore the museum on a guided tour.
