Rhine Riverside Bike Loop

Perfect for beginners, this flat family bike ride follows the Rhine to Gamprin, with plenty of time to swim and play at Grossabünt before riding back to Vaduz.

Vaduz, Städtle
  • Loop route
  • Start/finish: Vaduz
  • Distance: 21 km
  • Elevation gain: 40 m
  • Difficulty: easy
  • Vaduz Town Hall
  • Rhine embankment
  • Grossabünt recreation area

The easy ride begins in the middle of Vaduz, right in front of the town hall. Families pedal through the capital for a few blocks before the streets fall away and the Rhine embankment opens up ahead. From here, it is an easy cruise through the countryside even for beginners, with the river running alongside the route and mountains rising on both sides of the valley. Need a breather? Pull over for a few minutes and take a break by the water.

For kids, Gamprin brings the big reward: the Grossabünt recreation area. Grab something to eat at the bistro in the airy pavilion or unpack a picnic under the trees, then make a day of it. In summer, kids can cool off in the natural swimming lake, practice their jumps in the diving area or splash around in the shallow water. If swimming is not on the agenda, there is still plenty to do, from balancing and climbing to kicking a ball around.

Eventually, it is time to get back on the bikes. The return leg follows the Rhine embankment south, keeping things just as flat and straightforward all the way back to Vaduz.
