High above Vaduz, the forest is anything but just a backdrop. From just outside the Waldhotel, two loop trails wind through mossy Bannholz and Iraggell woods, linking 40 activity stations. Illustrated panels dive into forest life, wildlife and the delicate balance that keeps the ecosystem ticking. But it’s not just facts – kids balance on beams, lounge in wooden recliners, pit their long jump against a fox or hare or peer into a buzzing beehive. There’s no tech, no screens – just the forest: resin on the air, birds singing in the canopy and leaves whispering underfoot.
Fire pits at Schalun Castle are perfect for a summer picnic, with firewood stacked ready. There’s a shorter, buggy-friendly 2 km loop for families with young children or a longer 6.4 km route for those keen to reach the castle ruins of Schalun or the viewing platform with big Rhine Valley view.
