West of Europe’s oldest wildlife reserve, the Freiberg Kärpf, the Aktivhostel HängeMatt sits in the spectacular Tectonic Arena Sardona, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.The family-run hostel warmly welcomes guests large and small. The six rooms, all with space for a crib, are lovingly and uniquely furnished – with local materials such as alluvial or fir wood and with upcycled products such as old skis.
The outdoorsy hostel is the perfect base not only for summer activities like hiking, climbing or a visit to the theme trail “Giant’s Forest”, but also in winter, with its own ski storage, nearby ski lifts and above all: sledding right in front of the door. On rainy days, the fun simply moves indoors: children can let off steam in the public bouldering hall or the large indoor playroom with observation tower and ball pit, while parents unwind in the self-service café. In the evening, the lounge with billiards, reading nook and play corner invites everyone to relax. Guests can either cook in the communal kitchen or enjoy the breakfast and dinner options offered.
