All aboard for a tasty break: at Rigi Staffel, the legendary steam locomotive “Lok 7” inspires everything from the restaurant’s name to the small railway details woven into the cozy interior. Right outside, a model locomotive invites kids to explore and play. While the grown-ups take in the mountain views from the panoramic terrace, children can slip away to the dedicated playroom. Coloring sets and the comfortable lounge area make quieter moments easy too.
The kitchen serves seasonal dishes made with as many regional ingredients as possible. Specialties include several cordon bleus, among them the “Franz Toni” with ham and alpine cheese from Alp Chäserenholz. After lunch or dinner, families can head straight back into the mountains: Rigi Staffel station and the children’s ski area are right outside, several hiking trails pass the restaurant and Rigi Kulm is not far away.
