A marble disappears into a metal spiral, emerges farther down and sets the next part of the sculpture in motion. A few steps later, wheels begin to turn, wind chimes ring and another artwork seems to come alive. At the Lozzi Museum in Wald, there is always something new to catch the eye.
More than 100 works by Swiss artist Yvan “Lozzi” Pestalozzi fill the historic vaulted cellar and the surrounding park. Families can explore oversized marble runs, kinetic metal sculptures, wind chimes and the famous Lozzi Worm. Many of the pieces play with everyday objects and the laws of physics. Some need only a gentle push while others rely on wind or gravity to trigger a whole chain of movements.
Children follow the marbles through tubes and spirals, search for hidden mechanisms and wait to see what will happen next. Adults begin to notice the clever wordplay and subtle humor behind the constructions. Together, they discover a playful kind of art that moves, surprises and rewards a closer look.
