Who has the sharper eye: you or a bird of prey? Where do shy wild animals hide? And how does milk get from the udder to your glass? Along the 3.7 km adventure trail between Chrinnehof and Farneralp, families explore these questions at ten interactive stations. Their guide is “Chrinneschagi,” the great-grandfather of Andreas Kindlimann from Chrinnehof. Kids roll balls, compare their eyesight with that of birds of prey, experience thunder and lightning and learn why raising suckler cows means making use of more than just the prime cuts of meat. The trail also explores the balance between farming and recreation, including what happens when farmland becomes a ski slope in winter.
Each station comes with a quiz question. Families who combine all the answers correctly can crack the code for a small surprise at the end. Three fire pits, swings and wooden loungers make it easy to turn the walk into a full-day outing. And there’s another good reason to make it to Chrinnehof: the farm shop sells homemade ice cream and regional products, and with a little luck, families may even get a peek inside the barn.
