Away from the buzz of major ski resorts, Elm reveals a quieter side of winter. Known as the home region of ski legend Vreni Schneider, it offers much more than just skiing. Beyond the pistes, families can soak up the sun on peaceful trails like the classic route to Munggä Hüttä.
Starting at the Ämpächli mountain station, follow the snow-covered Älpliweg as it winds through serene forests and open meadows without crossing a single ski run. Right at the start, the cozy mountain restaurant Älpli makes a perfect spot to grab a coffee before your hike.
The destination, mountain restaurant Munggä Hüttä, too is well worth lingering at. Its spacious sun terrace with loungers invites you to rest and soak up sweeping views of the Tschingelhörner peaks and the famous Martinsloch. When you’re ready, you can either retrace your steps back to Ämpächli or add a little excitement by sledding down to Elm.
Tip: Sled rentals are available at the Ämpächli mountain station.
