The Rotenflue gondola lifts families above the Schwyz valley basin to a broad panorama stretching as far as Lake Lucerne. Right beside Restaurant Gipfelstubli, two family-friendly loops set off across the mountain: a shorter 1.6-kilometer route that takes about 40 minutes and a longer 2.3-kilometer option that takes around 50 minutes.
Most children will want to make a stop at “Gämsipark” before the hike begins. The adventure playground has plenty to climb and balance on, along with a seven-meter-high play tower, a fast slide and a rope bridge leading straight to the restaurant terrace. From there, the trail heads into the mountain landscape past fire pits and picnic areas. Keep an eye on the slopes along the way and you may spot one of the animals that lives in Switzerland’s oldest hunting reserve.
