The 4.6 km loop around Obersee is an easy family ride with plenty of stops built in. From the Obersee parking lot, a small wooden bridge crosses a stream. Soon after, families pedal through the meadows of Oberseealp. Cows graze here in summer and the lake glitters in the sun.
Just over two kilometers in, a swim break is almost inevitable. At 1,000 m above sea level, the Obersee outdoor pool is the smallest and highest outdoor pool in the canton of Glarus. Kids jump into the refreshing water and head for the playground, while the grown-ups prepare lunch at the grill or order something from the kiosk. Afterwards, it’s back on the bikes. The route returns to the lakeshore and follows the water at an easy pace to the starting point. Those who want to stay a little longer can stop at Berghotel Obersee before heading home.
