Set away from the busy ski slopes, this family-friendly winter trail takes you through Elm’s mountain scenery, combining scenic views, a cozy mountain restaurant and sledding fun.

Away from the busy slopes, families seeking a peaceful winter escape follow this gently rising panoramic trail through snow-covered forests and open hills. At the historic hamlet of Hengstboden, with its dark wooden chalets, the view opens up to the impressive Tschingelhörner peaks and the legendary Martinsloch — a natural “cinema” that captivates even children.

At the top, the sunny terrace of Bischofalp mountain restaurant invites visitors to enjoy regional specialties and cozy warmth. For those with energy to spare, a thrilling sled ride back down to Elm offers the perfect finale. Others return the same way or stay overnight.

Tip: Sled rentals are available at the Ämpächli mountain station.
