Hot Thermal Fountains

Bathing in warm thermal spring water in the middle of town? In Baden and Ennetbaden, two public hot fountains offer a unique experience all year around.

  • Public baths
  • Two fountains, a footbath and benches
  • Kneipp hose for showering
  • Natural spring water
  • 37°C and 43°C (depending on the weather)
  • Free of charge

Take a bath in a public fountain this winter! What was commonplace in Baden and Ennetbaden until 150 years ago is now possible again. Free of charge, all year around and without reservation. The open-air mini thermal pools by the association “Bagni Popolari” on the Limmat Promenade are fed by pure, mineral-rich spring water and are between 37°C and 43°C warm, depending on the weather. If you have forgotten your swimming trunk or bikini treat yourself to a footbath or relax on the bench, which is also partially warmed by the thermal water. There is also a drinking fountain on site.

With the hot fountains, the spa town of Baden continues a centuries-old tradition. The local spring water, which also flows through the “Fortyseven” thermal baths designed by star architect Mario Botta, was already used in Roman times.
