Lakes in the Region

They are among the most popular excursion destinations: the many small and large lakes in the region around Zurich.

The Canton of Zurich is renowned for its beautiful stretches of water, which are perfect for an excursion with all the family. However, the Swiss do not just flock to the lakes to cool off on a hot summer day, but also to meet friends and relatives on the banks and shores to enjoy a leisurely barbecue or relax amidst the stunning scenery.

There are many other typically Swiss leisure activities to choose from too: hiking trails, BBQ sites, tiny islands (such as Ufenau Island in Lake Zurich), restaurants, lidos, and boat hire facilities all make a trip to a lake a memorable experience.
