Soldering the broken control panel of a model train, carving a space shuttle out of wood, creating Christmas tree decorations with 3D printing – for project like these, the tinkering lab in the former children’s ward of the old cantonal hospital in Zug is the place to go.

In the workshop, children from the age of 9 can implement their ideas in areas such as electronics, physics, mechanics or chemistry according to their own ideas and abilities. Trained laboratory coaches are on hand to provide advice and assistance and ensure safety. All equipment can be used free of charge; the only costs incurred are for the materials used. After the beginners’ course, in which children learn how to use various tools and machines safely, they can join the “free tinkering” sessions at any time the workshop is open.
