Flitting across the snow on skis or a snowboard is fun – even for the little ones. On Mount Rigi, there’s not one but three family-friendly ski areas:
In the Rigi Staffel ski area, parents watch their kids from the sun terrace of the Lok 7 restaurant in the children’s play park of the same name or glide downhill together with the slightly older ones at the Rotstock or Ständli ski lifts. You can get there by rack railroad from Goldau or Vitznau (timetable).
Right next to it, in the Kaltbad area, there is the Gratalp/Edelweissmatte ski lift, where parents can comfortably watch their children from the terrace of the Gratalp Stübli restaurant. You can get their either bei rack railroad from Vitznau or by cable car from Weggis (timetable).
Snow and beautiful views can also be found in the Rigi-Scheidegg/Burggeist ski area with two children’s ski lifts and one “normal” ski lift. The restaurant Rigi-Burggeist takes care of the physical well-being. You can get there by cable car, either from Kräbel to Rigi Scheidegg (timetable) or from Obergschwend to Burggeist (timetable).
With its blue and red coded slopes, the ski lift in the Seebodenalp ski area is also suitable for beginners, and the Holderen children’s ski lift tirelessly pulls the little ones uphill. When finally tired, skiers enjoy the sun on the terrace of the Grod restaurant. You can get there by cable car from Küssnacht am Rigi (timetable).
Of course, Mount Rigi also offers other activities like winter hiking, cross-country skiing or tobogganing.
