What do cowbells sound like? What does a mushroom smell like? And which trees grow in the forest? Families set out to answer these questions together along the Raten Trail in Oberägeri. Following the 4.7 km loop, children discover nature with all their senses. Five themed stations introduce local wildlife, plants and the region’s history through hands-on activities including the chance to ring traditional cowbells.

About halfway along the trail, families reach the forest playground at St. Jost. While kids race down the zip line and play on the swings, the grown-ups can fire up the barbecue and enjoy a picnic. A short walk away, the historic St. Jost Chapel and the cozy mountain hut are perfect for a relaxing break before the trail leads back to Restaurant Raten.
