Hiking with friends is twice the fun – which is why families explore the trails around Glarus Süd alongside the Barbüda llamas. The adventure begins at the llama barn in Luchsingen, where everyone helps halter and groom the animals while the Barbüda family shares insights into the llamas’ daily life, personalities and how to handle them respectfully. Then, at a leisurely pace, the group sets off into nature, choosing routes along the river Linth toward Leuggelbach, Hätzingen or all the way to the Diesbach Falls. There’s time for a picnic along the way, which families can pre-order or bring themselves. All ages are welcome; children under eight must lead a llama together with an adult.
For those who prefer not to hike or on hot summer days when longer walks might be too much for the animals, there’s an alternative one-hour guided visit to the farm or pasture, where families can feed the llamas and enjoy a peaceful moment with them.
