High Mountain Trail Amden

On this high-Alpine path high above the Walensee lake, hikers can enjoy some time out accompanied by fantastic panoramic views.

Route Description
This hike starts with a ride on the Mattstock chairlift up to the Walau summit station. It then leads across wide Alpine meadows towards Hintere Höhe. The next section mainly passes through protected moorland, a marshy natural landscape covered with mountain pines. Hikers are treated to splendid views of the Toggenburg region and the Alpstein mountains, as well as the Glarus Alps and the turquoise-blue Walensee lake. The high-Alpine path ends in in Arvenbüel.

Particularly Recommended
Several idyllic BBQ areas line the route – a good reason to take your own food with you and then have a leisurely BBQ or picnic along the way.

Catering Facilities En Route
The Alpwirtschaft Furgglen or the Alp Strichboden are location along the route and serve hungry guests tasty dishes from the region.
