Grünfelspark

Once an orchard meadow, Grünfelspark is now one of Jona’s most versatile family parks, with plenty of green space, room to get active and space to spend a long afternoon outdoors.

Bahnhof Jona
  • Public green space in the heart of Jona
  • Large playground
  • Water play area
  • Lawns for relaxing and picnics
  • Skills park and pump track
  • Bocce and ping-pong
  • Pick fruit and berries

Just a few steps from Jona train station, Grünfelspark unfolds into a broad green corridor between Jona and Rapperswil. Kids sweep over the pump track on bikes and scooters, scramble across the dragon playground and dash through the fountains at Lotte-Stiefel-Platz. Between the action, paths weave through lawns and beneath mature trees, passing broad seating steps and open spaces that shift character as the day goes on.

By afternoon, the park is shared by families, schoolchildren and teens. Some keep circling the skills park, while others move on to ping-pong, bocce or the outdoor fitness equipment. Blankets spread across the lawns, balls are kicked between picnics and quieter corners remain tucked beneath the trees. Fruit trees and berry bushes nod to the site’s former orchard meadow, and in season visitors can pick cherries, apples or berries. What makes Grünfelspark work is not one headline attraction but the way all these different spaces sit comfortably side by side.
