Photography is much more than taking pictures. It tells stories, preserves memories and offers new ways of seeing the world. At the Fotomuseum Winterthur, families explore this fascinating art form through engaging exhibitions and hands-on programs designed especially for children.
In the family workshop “Photogram – Creating with Light,” children discover photography without ever picking up a camera. Using only light and everyday objects, they create imaginative images in the museum’s darkroom. The “Camera Obscura” workshop takes them back to photography’s beginnings, where they build their own pinhole cameras and develop black-and-white photographs in the darkroom. Creativity continues throughout the exhibition with an activity booklet for children aged 5–12 years, filled with imaginative drawing, observation and creative challenges that guide families through the galleries.
