Little explorers can discover Switzerland’s history up close in a fascinating, interactive exhibition. The exhibition begins on the top floor, where visitors will find a life-size knight on his horse. The topic here is the relationship between the king, church, nobility and peasants and how this relationship changed with the advent of educational institutions.

And what would Switzerland be without the Alps? This impressive mountain range spans the entire museum and illustrates how people conducted trade and were mobile at that time. Visitors can experience Medieval domestic culture in the “Schwarzen Stube” and find out the “Wild West habits” that still prevailed 700 years ago on the ground floor. The journey continues through a man-made forest, which takes you to the final room, which is entirely dedicated to the legends associated with the founding of the confederation.
