Ski Area
Energetic cross-country skiers have a choice of wonderful trails at the Vordergeissboden top station. The snow-covered moorland landscape is reminiscent of Scandinavia, only with a view of Central Switzerland’s Mt. Rigi and the Alpine foothills.
Trails
On the Zugerberg, winter sports fans have at their disposal a total of 18 kilometers (11 miles) of cross-country ski trails, comprising four classic and four skating trails. First a challenging climb needs to be tackled, but after that the route is mostly flat and the physical exertion quickly forgotten – for the magnificent Alpine panorama more than makes up for the strenuous effort.
Special Remarks
Provided that there is enough snow, a night trail is illuminated daily from dusk until 10.00pm. In addition, changing rooms with showers are available in the Vordergeissboden multipurpose building for skiers’ use. There are also four restaurants along the trails where athletes can rest and fortify themselves.
