In 1782, Glarus gained international fame when the maid Anna Göldi became the victim of an intrigue. Falsely accused of infanticide, she was the last witch in Europe to be executed. A judicial murder.

In the historic Hänggiturm in Ennenda, the story of Anna Göldi is brought to life in a modern exhibition. The focus is on the exceptionally well-documented trial and its historical and political background. Around the centerpiece are several thematic islands – witchcraft, the network of power, enlightenment, journalism, the culture of remembrance and rehabilitation.

In addition, temporary exhibitions and events provide a link to current issues relating to the rule of law and human rights, a central concern of the Anna Göldi Foundation.
