They really do exist: “Alpöhi” like in the story by Johanna Spyri. Those who spend a night in Franz-Toni Kennel’s hay barn at Chäserenholzalp experience their world firsthand. High above Lake Lucerne, the alp lies amid lush alpine meadows a 20-minute walk from Rigi Kulm.
The experience begins in the alpine cheese dairy. Here, Franz-Toni initiates his guests into the secrets of making cheese or butter. In the evening, they go on an atmospheric torchlight hike and experience the traditional prayer call on an almost deserted Rigi before sleeping in hay like Heidi and Peter.
