Rhine Falls

Bike Trail Rhine Falls to Zurich Oberland

On this moderately difficult bike tour, cyclists first admire the impressive Rhine Falls and then ride through the idyllic landscapes of the Zurich Oberland.

  • Distance: 97 km
  • 2 stages
  • Level of difficulty: medium
  • Start: Schaffhausen
  • End: Wattwil (Ricken)
  • Switzerland Mobility: Route 86
  • Rhine Falls

The route begins at the largest waterfall in Europe – the Rhine Falls – and leads past vineyards to the pretty timber-framed houses of Andelfingen. This is followed by an idyllic bike path through forests and meadows. After Winterthur, there is first a small hill before the route leads down a flat valley to the Pfäffikersee lake.

At the numerous fireplaces with tables and benches, cyclists of all ages take their well-deserved break and prepare for the next stage: for the ascent to the historic Rikenpass muscle grease is needed. But it’s worth the effort: the view is unique and even pilgrims used this pass to get to Wattwil.
