A curtain rises, puppets step into the light and the first notes ring out. Within seconds, kids and grown-ups are wrapped up in a story, whether it’s a familiar favorite or something completely unexpected. Across the Kinderregion, families will find everything from intimate puppet theaters to major stages and cultural venues that regularly put on theater for kids. Even toddlers can get their first taste of the stage with Kasperli, while older kids can dive into fairy tales, puppetry and musical theater or discover comedy, circus and visual theater.

Sitting quietly in the audience is only one way to take part. Kids might call out advice to help a character along, peek behind the scenes, try theater in a workshop or create scenes of their own. Some eventually end up onstage themselves. As they grow, family theater grows with them, giving families plenty of different ways to get caught up in a story together.
