Tobogganing on the Stoos

Route
This toboggan run is probably one of the most beautiful in Switzerland: Starting close to the Fronalpstock summit station, the route reveals some breathtaking views over the mountains and 10 lakes of Central Switzerland. There are two runs each covering two kilometers (1.25 miles) for a fast downhill ride on a traditional wooden sled or a sportier airboard to the middle station at Mettlen. As beautiful as the run is, it requires concentration and caution. This toboggan run is not suitable for small children.

Toboggan Hire
Traditional sleds, as well as what are known as “Zipflbobs” for the youngest visitors, can be hired locally for CHF 8 per day.

Catering Facilities Nearby
There are various places for winter sports enthusiasts to fortify themselves on the Fronalpstock and in the little village of Stoos.

Special Remarks
The slopes of the Fronalpstock are not suitable for very young toboggan fans, but there are plenty of hills around the village of Stoos that are more appropriate for infants and small children.
