National Museum Zurich

Like a fairy-tale castle, the National Museum proudly presents itself in front of Zurich main station and its exhibits tell exciting stories from prehistoric times to the present day. The museum has come up with some very special activities and attractions for children and families to explore Switzerland’s largest collection of cultural history.

Who doesn’t dream of traveling back in time and experiencing first-hand what it was like back then? In the family exhibition “A Magic Carpet Ride Through History”, subjects such as the Orient, shipping and railroads are conveyed in a playful way. In an Arabian palace, on the deck of a large sailing ship, and in an old railroad compartment, the visitors travel through the epochs.

The other exhibitions of the National Museum also combine knowledge transfer with activities suitable for children. The Discovery Bag invites children to explore the museum on their own. With puzzle books families are guided through the exhibits with fascinating information. With the audio guide, young and old explore the collection in the West Wing at their own pace.
