Lichen Nature Trail

Pack your magnifying glass – in Braunwald, it’s worth taking a closer look. The sun terrace in Canton Glarus is home to fascinating pioneers. Sometimes shrubby, sometimes leafy or crusty, lichens grow on all kinds of surfaces, including bark, soil or rock.

On the “Lichen Nature Trail”, little explorers can immerse themselves in their amazing microcosm with the app “Glarus forest pearls” (Glarner Waldperlen). The one-hour hike goes from the top of the Braunwald cable car past the bubbling Zillibach Falls through secluded forests to restaurant Nussbüel. Along the way, the app notifies you when you are near one of the eight information stations. On the spot, audios reveal amazing facts in the local dialect.
