The Aabach river joins Lake Zurich in Schmerikon. It has carved out the terrain over thousands of years to create the wild and romantic gorge that today attracts many relaxation-seekers. Here you can stroll along the well-signposted footpaths and savor the tranquility of nature.
The diverse natural and cultural landscape is also an important habitat for the many plants and animals (some of which are under threat). In order to preserve this nature area, the surrounding communities have launched a project to make the local population more aware of the need to protect the Aabachtal valley.
