Grüningen Kids’ Trail

Follow Hans and Mola through Grüningen and explore the plants and wildlife around the medieval town in an interactive way.

Grüningen, Stedtli
  • 4.3 km loop trail
  • 9 interactive stations
  • Botanical Garden
  • Grilling in the castle park
  • Picnic in Stedtlipark
  • Grüningen Castle Café
  • Free admission

Hans lives in the castle and Mola calls the church tower home. Together, they guide families to nine interactive stations that bring the flora and fauna of this medieval town to life.

The path winds from Herrenbaumgarten, where kids match animals on memory cards, to Stedtlipark, where a secret code opens a playhouse and the “Bandolino” game reveals who eats what. By the time you reach the Müli, a wooden habitat tower is buzzing with life –drawing butterflies, hedgehogs and birds – while another “Bandolino” game shines a light on the hidden world of insects. The Botanical Garden, open April through October, invites hands-on experimenting, with a handmade scale used to compare different types of wood, such as oak and fir.

When energy runs low, families picnic in the park, grill at the castle or stop at the café. Here, an “I Spy” scene keeps little ones busy while parents unwind.
